Reading Needs Foster Carers

READING Borough Council is appealing for people who may be interested in fostering to make contact this New Year.

Right now in Reading, the Council needs foster carers who reflect our children and young people. There are babies, young children, siblings and teens who all need a stable and secure home. Foster carers can be single or couples of any gender. People don’t need to own their own home and foster carers can work alongside the Council’s fostering service to provide the care that is needed. It’s what foster carers can offer a child that matters to the Council. Foster carers in Reading receive training and mentoring and the backing of professionals and experts, as well as being part of a supportive network of local carers. The Council will also remunerate foster carers generously. Fees can be as much as £425 per week or £22,000 per year, plus a tax free allowance for each child of between £150 and £260 per week. People interested in finding out more can call 0118 469 3020 or email: fostering.recruitment@reading.gov.uk. Alternatively visit www.reading.gov.uk/fostering.

Cllr Jan Gavin, Reading Borough Council’s Lead Member for Children’s Services, said:

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in hearing more about becoming a foster carer, including the support available and the generous packages on offer. It might be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.” Reading Borough Council is launching its foster care recruitment campaign for 2018. Please find the Facebook Fostering for Reading page, like it and share it. The Council will also be posting more information about opportunities to get involved with to help the Council grow its already existing group of foster carers.
